Stake Conference September 26, 2016

This weekend we were able to have Stake Conference! Elder Clark, of the 70, came and it was truly and incredible meeting! Sunday was started off by President Anderson with a talk about always remembering Christ in our day to day lives. He invited everyone to look for Christ in everything that we do and focus on helping others feel his love. One of the things that he said that really stuck out to me was, "It is hard to have a negative attitude when our foundation and lives are built upon Christ." That really hit home for me. I know that as I focus my life on the Savior and try to do the things that He would do I am filled with joy. But when I start to focus on me, myself and I then I seem to fall into a much more negative slump. President Anderson's talk really inspired me. I want to make the Savior the center of everything that I do for the rest of my life. I know that it won't always be easy but just like is says in Luke 1:37 "For with God nothing shall be impossible."

After President Anderson's talk a lot of members were called on from the audience to come to the pulpit and bear their testimonies, and it was such a powerful experience! There were so many powerful witnesses that testified of our Savior Jesus Christ and the Spirit was so strong. But the one line that stood out to me the most from everyone's testimonies was from a man that said, "Who does the Lord want me to touch today?" This simple sentence really made me think.... Am I serving, loving, and helping everyone that the Lord has planned for me to help during the day? I know that as each of us turn to our Father in Heaven in prayer and ask to SEE the opportunities to serve our fellow brothers and sisters we will be able to help others around us feel the love that the Savior has for them. Often times we all have opportunities to serve, love, and help but sometimes we are distracted. We are all distracted in different ways...some might include: our phones, a busy day at work, being in a hurry to get somewhere, maybe we've just had "one of those days" were everything seems to have gone wrong... We all have different distractions and they are different everyday. Although I know that as each of us pray to have the "eyes to see" we will be able to touch the lives of those the Lord has prepared for us. I am so grateful for all of the people that followed the Spirit and have had the "eyes to see" and have been an answer to my prayers. So many times when I have had a rough day there always seems to be someone that comes up to me and helps me feel loved. I know each of us can be the answer to someone else's prayer as we keep the question in our hearts and minds.... "Who does the Lord want me to touch today?"

After the amazing testimonies that were given Elder Clark began to speak. His whole talk was about MISSIONARY WORK!!! It was so amazing! He focused on 2 things. #1. Finding JOY in the Gospel. He said, "JOY is a manifestations of the Gospel of Jesus Christ." He talked about living the gospel and making the Savior a part of who we are. Another thing that he said that really touched my heart was "We can have JOY NOW through our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love that!! I don't have to say... "I'll be happy when...." Because of our Savior Jesus Christ we can all find joy everyday of our lives. Whether it is great or small, we all can have our heart be full of joy in knowing we have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives.

#2. Share the Gospel. Once we have had the amazing blessing and opportunity of feeling the joy the gospel brings we can share it with others! Just like the man that said "Who does the Lord want me to touch today?" as we keep that question at the front of our hearts and minds and pray to see those opportunities we will be able to share the gospel with those that are around us! Elder Clark then continued to promise the Cranbrook British Colombia Stake that as everyone lives, loves, and shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ that the Lord will place the people whom He has prepared in our paths!! Oh, I wish that words could describe how strong the Spirit was in the room when he said that!! In addition to the amazing Spirit which was felt during the meeting we also had two members from our ward come up after the meeting and give us some referrals!!  I know that each of us can share the love that the Savior has with those around us. I am so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that my Savior loves me and know me personally, and I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ truly does bring joy!

Week Full Of Emotions!! September 5, 2016

This past week has been full of all sorts of different emotions. My Mission President, President Miles, called me last Monday night and told me that I was getting transferred and that I would be going to Sparwood, British Colombia to finish training a new Sister, Sister Patton, for my last transfer. Needless to say a few tears were shed that I would be leaving Taber and so many people that I had grown to love so much. Although the goodbyes were hard I have already begun to fall in love with the people here in Sparwood.

This past Thursday I had an opportunity to meet Ron. He has been taking the missionary lessons for a few years now. The first lesson that I was here for he also had his baptismal interview!! This past Saturday Ron got baptized and even though I only got to teach one lesson to Ron and missionaries have been teaching him for years!! The Spirit taught me a valuable lesson once again... Heavenly Father in mindful of all of His children. He knows and loves each one of us personally and is mindful of what our needs are. The Lords timing is key in our lives. Ron wasn't ready the past few years to be baptized. But because of the love from so many members in the Sparwood ward and the past missionaries little by little Ron was prepared to enter the waters of baptism. The Spirit was so strong during the service and I am so grateful that I had an opportunity to be a part of that special day with Ron. Although the cherry on top was that I gained another witness of the love that God has for each of His beloved children. I know that Heavenly Fathers timing is so important in each of our lives. And because of the Spirit we can each feel the love that Heavenly Father has for us. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is changing my life each and every day. I am so grateful for our Father in Heaven and our Savior Jesus Christ.

A Great Week!! August 29, 2016

This past week has been great! We were able to have dinner with one of our investigators Jen!! It was so much fun! They live on a farm so we were able to go and help her kids do chores for a few minutes before supper. All of her kids were asking us questions about missionary work and what we do all day. It was so much fun to see how all of her kids wanted to learn more about what we do. This was the first time that we were able to meet with Jen's whole family at once and it was awesome!! Jen's husband, Clayton, has been a little leery to let us talk to him about the gospel but after we had a great conversation over dinner and shared a few laughs when it came to sharing the message he actually stayed!!!! Oh it just warmed my heart! We were able to share with their family a message about seeing God's hand in our life and recognizing how much He loves and knows us. It was so awesome because as we were talking and testifying of Christ Clayton was actually engaged and really listening! Oh it was such a neat experience to be able to teach a whole family about the Gospel of Jesus Christ!!

Also during the week we had the opportunity to go to the Cardston Temple with Elder and Sister Parkinson, they are a service missionary couple in our mission. It was such an amazing experience. In our mission we are only able to attend the Temple once every 3-4 months because we are all spread out so far in the mission and it is quite the trip to get to the temple. Needless to say because we only get to go a few times it makes the experience even more special. This week it was especially meaningful to me. As I was able to feel the peace that the Temple brings and learn from the Spirit within its walls. I have come to gain an even stronger testimony of the importance of Temples. I know that the covenants we make with Heavenly Father within the walls of the temple endow us with power. I know that Temples truly are the House of the Lord. I know that I have felt the Spirit bring peace to my soul and enlightenment to my mind while in the Temple. I am so grateful for the many Temples around the world that give so many Latter-Day Saints an opportunity to worship Heavenly Father and feel the special Spirit within the walls of His Holy House. I am grateful that I can learn little by little each time I attend the sacred House of the Lord like it says in 2 Nephi 28:30 "For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little" There are still so many things that I do not know or understand... But I do know that Heavenly Father is mindful of each of His children. I know that He loves each of us so much. He will help us, we only need to ask with a sincere heart and be patient for His divine timing. I know that everything that I am and everything that I hope to become is because of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I hope that each of us will be able to attend the Temple as often as we can in our own individual circumstances. I know that as we make the Temple a priority in our lives we will gain additional spiritual strength to overcome temptations and combat the adversary. I am grateful for the Restoration of the Gospel and that because of that Restoration I have an opportunity to attend the Temple and come even closer to my Savior.
