This week we have seen so many neat things happen, but the experience that I want to share is from Thursday. Brother Mike Hemingway, the Director over Missionary work from the Missionary Department in Salt Lake City came to our mission. We had an amazing meeting with him filled with the Spirit and there were so many things that I was able to learn but the one thing that stood out to me the most was this question... "Have you found everyone that Lord prepared for you to find today?" This really made me think. The Lord has set me apart as a missionary for 18 months to find, teach, and baptize His children within the Canada Calgary Mission. The thought came into my mind..."Am I really doing ALL that I can to invite others to come unto Christ?" I need to make each MOMENT count. Each lesson meaningful. I need to help EACH person I see feel the love that Heavenly Father has for them. NOW is the time for me to rely 100% on the Lord. NOW is the time to hold nothing back. I must make every "TODAY" meaningful by relying on the Lord and following the Spirit so that I can become who Heavenly Father needs me to be.
Each of us has been "called to serve". We just are all called to serve in different ways. Right now I have been given the amazing opportunity to serve as a Full Time Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and what an amazing call that is. But each of us have been called to earth to help the ones around us feel loved by the Savior. We each have been called to "mourn with those that mourn and comfort those that stand in need of comfort." We have all been called to "invite others to come unto Christ." We don't need to have a name tag or an "official title or calling" to reach out and serve our fellow Brothers and Sisters. Each of us can make "TODAY" meaningful by looking outward and serving those around us. This makes me think of the Hymn Have I Done Any Good? There is so much power to the words "Have I done any good in the world today? Have I helped anyone in need? Have I cheered up the sad and made someone feel glad?" Because of the things the Spirit taught me from Brother Hemingway's words I want to live my life with this motto. "Have I done any good in the world today, Have I helped anyone in need? I know that as each of us look outward for ways to help those around us we will be able to "find everyone the Lord has prepared us to find today". We can each make a difference in the lives of those around us by following the Spirit and doing our best to make each MOMENT of our lives count.
I am so grateful for the things that the Spirit taught me during our meeting with Brother Hemingway. I know that now I am going to work even harder, testify even more, show more kindness, and strive to become someone that Heavenly Father can rely on to "help those in need". I am so grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the opportunity I have to grow because of the sacrifice He made for me. I hope that each of us can make each MOMENT of our lives count by looking outward and serving even more than we might already be doing. I know that "doing good is a pleasure, a joy beyond measure, A blessing of duty and love."
