Sister Blaser and I had a really cool experience yesterday!! So since we are both new to the area we have been trying to ask the Auxiliary Leaders if they have had anyone on their mind that they would like us to visit. And one of those people turned out to be Logan. He served an honorable mission and was sealed in the temple to his wife and all was going well when things in there marriage started to get a little rocky and everything just started falling apart and they ended up getting a divorce.... Since the divorce he has felt like God doesn't exist. Although now, he is dating a sweet RM but she has recently become less active too... When we first showed up we just chit chatted a little bit but then we started talking about God and Logan started sharing with us how he is not bitter against the church, but he simply just doesn't believe in God anymore. And we asked his girlfriend why she decided to stop attending church and reading her scriptures as well... and that is when the Spirit taught me something so profound. She told us that two years ago she was sitting in our shoes teaching less active members and bearing testimony to them of the importance of the gospel. She continued to share how she promised the Lord that she would NEVER become less active and that she would always do the little things and serve the Lord with all her heart. And then she looked at us and said something that has changed my life... "No one is immune.... it can happen to any of us." In that moment the Spirit taught me something... she was RIGHT! NO ONE is immune to Satan's temptations, NO ONE is going to have a perfect and easy life, and although it is such a blessing to have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives right now... if we do not continue to "press forward with a steadfastness in Christ", and do the little things every day with all sincerity of our hearts... then the same thing could happen to any of us. The visit Sister Blaser and I had with Logan and his girlfriend will always be a memory I cherish. The Spirit was so strong as each of us talked about Christ and how we have struggled, and as Sister Blaser and I bore testimony of the love that Christ has for each of us as we are today. The experience reminded me of a scripture, Alma 13:28-29 "But that ye would humble yourselves before the Lord, and call on His holy name and watch and pray continually that you may not be tempted above that which ye can bear, and thus being lead by the Holy Spirit, becoming humble, meek, submissive, patient, full of love and all long suffering; Having faith in the Lord having a hope that ye shall receive eternal life; having the love of God always in your hearts, that ye may be lifted up at the last day and enter into his rest." It is experiences like this one I have shared today that make me remember how important it is for me to do the little things every day with all sincerity of my heart. I am truly so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for a loving Savior and Father in Heaven that are so mindful of each of us and that They know and love each of us personally.
