Cool Experience!! April 18, 2016

Sister Blaser and I had a really cool experience yesterday!! So since we are both new to the area we have been trying to ask the Auxiliary Leaders if they have had anyone on their mind that they would like us to visit. And one of those people turned out to be Logan. He served an honorable mission and was sealed in the temple to his wife and all was going well when things in there marriage started to get a little rocky and everything just started falling apart and they ended up getting a divorce.... Since the divorce he has felt like God doesn't exist. Although now, he is dating a sweet RM but she has recently become less active too... When we first showed up we just chit chatted a little bit but then we started talking about God and Logan started sharing with us how he is not bitter against the church, but he simply just doesn't believe in God anymore. And we asked his girlfriend why she decided to stop attending church and reading her scriptures as well... and that is when the Spirit taught me something so profound. She told us that two years ago she was sitting in our shoes teaching less active members and bearing testimony to them of the importance of the gospel. She continued to share how she promised the Lord that she would NEVER become less active and that she would always do the little things and serve the Lord with all her heart. And then she looked at us and said something that has changed my life... "No one is immune.... it can happen to any of us." In that moment the Spirit taught me something... she was RIGHT! NO ONE is immune to Satan's temptations, NO ONE  is going to have a perfect and easy life, and although it is such a blessing to have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives right now... if we do not continue to "press forward with a steadfastness in Christ", and do the little things every day with all sincerity of our hearts... then the same thing could happen to any of us. The visit Sister Blaser and I had with Logan and his girlfriend will always be a memory I cherish. The Spirit was so strong as each of us talked about Christ and how we have struggled, and as Sister Blaser and I bore testimony of the love that Christ has for each of us as we are today. The experience reminded me of a scripture, Alma 13:28-29 "But that ye would humble yourselves before the Lord, and call on His holy name and watch and pray continually that you may not be tempted above that which ye can bear, and thus being lead by the Holy Spirit, becoming humble, meek, submissive, patient, full of love and all long suffering; Having faith in the Lord having a hope that ye shall receive eternal life; having the love of God always in your hearts, that ye may be lifted up at the last day and enter into his rest." It is experiences like this one I have shared today that make me remember how important it is for me to do the little things every day with all sincerity of my heart. I am truly so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for a loving Savior and Father in Heaven that are so mindful of each of us and that They know and love each of us personally.

Week Full Of Miracles April 11, 2016

This week has been FULL OF MIRACLES!! So this week has been the first full week that me and Sister Blaser have been in our new area, the Bow Valley Ward in Calgary. And we have been so so so blessed! This week we were stopping by a media referral to bring someone a Bible that they ordered online. As we were walking along the street after Sister Blaser and I felt like we should knock on a random door... so we did. And the lady that answered (Mikayla) chatted with us for a while and after we asked her if she was religious she said, "Yes we believe in God but we just haven't found a church that suites us yet...." At this point Sister Blaser and I almost died from excitement and after picking our jaws up off the ground we continued to talked to her about how the Gospel of Jesus Christ blesses families. Then she asked us, "So when would you like to come back?" Needless to say we were so so excited and we set up an appointment to see her the next day! (: Then when we came back she AND her two young adult kids (Robert and Laura) all sat in on the lesson!! And it was AMAZING!!! They had so many inspired questions and they have been SO prepared by the Lord!!! It was just such a neat experience to see that Heavenly Father knew exactly who was in that house and He had the Spirit prompt us to knock on their door!!! Oh and the kicker of the story for this week is that Robert has read 20 pages of The Book of Mormon and he came to church!!!! I just love being a missionary so much!!! It is so neat to see how Heavenly Father is so mindful and knows each of us so personally!! (: I just love the gospel!! (:

Another cool story from this week, Sister Blaser and I went to dinner at Harvey's (an amazing burger joint here in Calgary) and this burger joint they build your burger in front of you... kind of like Subway... As the lady( her name turned out to be Andrea) was building my chicken wrap I just started talking to her just like normal and asked her if she had any fun plans for her weekend and she said that she was just going to work and then asked me if I had any plans. I told her that I was a missionary and how every day we talk to people about Jesus Christ and how He blesses our lives. Then Andrea asked me how she could get a job like mine... haha Then I told her that being a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints isn't a job, that we don't get paid we just come because we love our Savior. Then I asked her if she might like to come to our church and see what it was like. And she knew exactly were the church was!! It was such a cool experience!! One of the biggest things that I have learned this week is that it is so important to be kind and try to talk with EVERYONE! Heavenly Father is mindful of all of us and He knows each of us so personally and He places certain people around us so that we can brighten their days and help them feel loved by Him!! I just am so grateful to have an opportunity to serve a mission and to meet and talk to so many of my Brothers and Sisters!! I love being a missionary so much! (:

They have a book swap in Canada so we left a Book Of Mormon!

A Little Update April 4, 2016

A little up date from this week... things have been a little crazy! Sister Blaser and I are now serving in the Bow Valley ward in Calgary and there is a senior couple serving in the Banff branch now. So since we are both new to the area and just got here on Friday night we have been trying to figure a few things out... including how to get places haha (: But we have already began to see so many amazing things! Yesterday we had a dinner with the Hill family and after we left Sister Blaser and I just couldn't stop talking about how much we love them and how awesome they are. And that experience has really made me start to think... How is it humanly possible to love a family so much after only knowing them for an hour or so? It is because we truly are all brothers and sisters and God truly is our Loving Heavenly Father! That is something that I have said so many times but today I have really been taught by the Spirit and found a new and deeper understanding that Love is something that comes from our Father in Heaven and we can love those around us so much because we are all family! We are placed with certain people at certain times to help others feel that love! What a blessing it is to know this simple truth and be able to feel the truthfulness of it from the Spirit! I am so grateful Heavenly Father is so mindful of me and taught me that simple but profound lesson today! I know Jesus is the Christ and that He knows and loves each of us personally and I am so grateful for Him and our Loving Father in Heaven.
